Monica Muir specializes in helping businesses use QuickBooks effectively so they can save time and money, focus on running the business, and increase profitability.  She’s a firm believer that wasting time from inefficiencies and lack of training in QuickBooks is more costly than many businesses realize.  Monica offers QuickBooks installation and setup, consulting, training, and troubleshooting.

Monica’s numerous QuickBooks certifications and her advanced degree in Adult and Community College Education give her an edge over most other QuickBooks consultants, enabling her to help her clients get the most benefit and productivity that QuickBooks has to offer.    Her love for education started at an early age, and her passion shines through from the very first time you meet her when she hands you her business card and some M&Ms.  On the back of the card, it says “For stress, frustration, or confusion with QuickBooks, Rx: Take two and call me!”

In addition to attending annual conferences to keep her QuickBooks knowledge sharp and up-to-date, she maintains the following rigorous certifications:

  • Advanced Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor
  • Intuit Solutions Provider (the only one in Frederick and one of only a handful in Maryland)
  • Certified QuickBooks Point of Sale Provider
  • Certified QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions Provider

She has served companies in dozens of industries including landscaping, construction, professional services, wholesale distribution, retail, real estate and property management, government agencies, nonprofit, personal services, and more.  Her webinar series which is tailored to her construction clients, The Keys to Mastering Job Costing in QuickBooks for Better Job Profitability, is an example of one of the group training programs she offers.

Before founding Muir & Associates in 2004, Monica provided business software support to the small business community of southeastern Pennsylvania. During those years of working with business software, she started learning QuickBooks – the hard way! Having experienced the learning curve herself gave her a genuine understanding for how her customers feel.

Monica’s undergraduate degree in from Penn State, and her masters is from North Carolina State University.  She has also taught beginning and advanced QuickBooks at Hagerstown Community College.

Monica lives in Frederick, MD with her husband George and three cats from the same litter.

About George Muir, Accounting Advisor


George L Muir is an advisor for Muir & Associates who can instantly see financial strengths, weaknesses, and how to prevent potential problems in small and mid-sized businesses.
With over 40 years in various accounting roles in the health care industry including CFO and auditor, George now enjoys making recommendations to improve operations, offering guidance with budgets and financial statements, facilitating financial decisions such as lease vs. buy and refinancing analyses, and audit preparation.  Each year for the last five years, he assists the AARP with their tax preparation program and is an instructor, is one of the few reviewers, and handles the actual electronic filing of the returns.

George is a CPA and received his accounting degree from Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, PA. When he’s not working, you might find him getting ready to volunteer for the U.S. Open Golf tournament next year or enjoying the homemade beer and wine that he makes.
